Description
Albany Medical Center offers a four-year training program in general psychiatry, accredited by ACGME, with a complement of twenty-four residents. Our goal is to assure that each resident develops the knowledge, skill, and professional behavior necessary for the competent, empathetic, and independent practice of general psychiatry. This goal is achieved through a combination of broad clinical experience, a comprehensive didactic program, scholarly research opportunities, and a close relationship with dedicated faculty. The psychiatry faculty at Albany Medical Center is committed the support of the professional development of every resident. The importance of the doctor-patient relationship is emphasized throughout residency and we provide extensive training and supervision in psychotherapy, as the foundation for psychiatric practice.
Criteria
All applications must be submitted through ERAS. CV Dean's letter (MSPE) ECFMG certificate (if applicable) Three current letters of recommendation At least one must be from a psychiatrist Medical school transcript and certificate/diploma Personal statement Photo USMLE Steps I and II (or COMLEX) - Step II/COMLEX II is not required at the time of initial application review. There are no cutoff scores but we give preference to applicants with few attempts.
