Preliminary PGY-2 Resident Position – General Surgery

The Rutgers New Jersey Medical School Department of Surgery is seeking a motivated and dedicated physician to fill a Preliminary PGY-2 (non-designated) position in General Surgery for the upcoming academic year.

The selected candidate will function as an integral member of the general surgery residency program, participating in the full spectrum of clinical responsibilities, including inpatient and outpatient care, operative experience, and perioperative management. Rotations include general surgery, trauma/acute care surgery, surgical critical care, and subspecialty services at University Hospital.

This position is ideal for candidates seeking additional clinical training in surgery or preparing to reapply to categorical surgical or related specialty programs.

Responsibilities include:

Participation in surgical patient care across multiple services
Operative and perioperative management under faculty supervision
Active involvement in teaching conferences, didactics, and team-based care
