PGY1 Start date: 2024-08-01 California
Description:
FMRP Mission Statement We educate residents to engage the community and provide full spectrum rural healthcare. FMRP Vision Statement To transform health in the Mendocino region. The Adventist Health Ukiah Valley Family Medicine Residency Program is an "unopposed" (stand-alone) program with six residents per year. The program is focused on full-scope rural family medicine, with the goal that residents will become adept at managing complex patients with interesting pathology in limited resource settings. Residents will receive excellent hands-on training with robust Procedures and Point-of-Care Ultrasound curricula. Also we have an emphasis on behavioral and population health as well as care for the homeless, as residents work closely with our Street Medicine team. Our goal is to train Family Medicine physicians who are well prepared to practice in a rural context and ultimately provide care to patients in any setting. To give physician residents a strong urban and academic experience that complements their rural experience, Adventist Health will be offering two months of inpatient training in the Sacramento area including UC Davis and the Sacramento VA. Housing is provided during these rotations.
